bout CLAMP
CLAMP is a team composed of Ohkawa Ageha, Mokona, Nekoi Tsubaki, and Satsuki Igarashi. More than 88 million CLAMP tankobon copies have been sold worldwide.
CLAMP originally began in 1989 as an eleven-member doujinshi circle called Amarythia. The former members of CLAMP include Akiyama Tamayo, Hisagi Soushi, O-Kyon, Nakamori Kazue, Yuzuru Inoue, Nanao Sei, Ohmi Shinya and Sei Leeza. By 1990, the circle had diminished from twelve to seven and their name had changed to CLAMP. Of the remaining seven, Akiyama Tamayo, Nanao Sei, and Sei Leeza left the group over the course of RG Veda's production, leaving the current four members.
These names are recent: In 2004, as part of CLAMP's 15th Anniversary, CLAMP's members changed their names from Ohkawa Nanase, Mokona Apapa, Nekoi Mick, and Igarashi Satsuki, respectively. The August 2004 issue of Newtype USA, a magazine specializing in events of the anime and manga subcultures, reported that the members of CLAMP simply wanted to try out new names. *swt*
